I recently read an excellent book on the true purpose of a college education and how today’s universities are failing miserably because they focus on developing career skills that lead to a high-paying job, which is the classic utilitarian analysis.

The Code of Conduct exists to educate students in understanding their rights and responsibilities as members of a safe, civil, and ethical academic community. Though formal in language, the manner in which students experience the judicial process involves respect, due process, and education. Ethics involves personal decisions each student makes daily. The course will identify the various ethical/moral theories that affect those decisions. The course will involve current issues and concerns to strengthen a student's own ethical deliberations and how such deliberations may be applied to the student's designated career interests.

The Columbia College Student Code of Conduct provides a framework to guide the personal conduct of Columbia College students, as members of the academic and College community. Students enrolled in Columbia College assume an obligation to conduct themselves in a manner compatible with the College’s function as an educational institution. The Philosophy Department at Molloy College invites applications for the part-time position of Adjunct Instructor in Business Ethics to start September Courses will be taught entirely online. The Department therefore has a strong need for someone with an AOS in Ethics and/or Applied Ethics as well as a proven track-record of teaching.
